Unemployment Rates by Presidency

bobsentell at God & Country made some cool slides showing the fluctuation of unemployment rates for the duration of each Presidency from Eisenhower to Obama.  I don’t have room to post all the graphs so here’s two for reference.  The blue line represents the unemployment rate.  The red line represents the trend line during the Presidency.  Sorry but it’s late and I will try to verify this later.  To see how unemployment is disproportionately affecting males go to Red State.

Compare Jimmy Carter and the  introduction of the Misery Index (unemployment rate +inflation rate)

So this brings us to today.  Unemployment is at 9.5% and the deficit is $1.5 trillion this year alone.  Here’s Obama’s term in office so far.  Go back and look at the Bush 43 presidency to get some perspective of how we got here.
