Surprise! Americans Want Less Immigration

Gallup finds Americans less favorable toward immigration than they were a year ago. 50% say immigration should be decreased (up from 39% last year).  32% say immigration levels should be kept the same, (down from 39%),and 14% say they should be increased (down from 18%).

Breakdown by political party.  Keep in mind that all numbers for each party are up since 2008.  It would be interesting to know if any of the respondents left or joined a different party since 2008.

61% of Republicans, 46% of Democrats and 44% of Independents want to see immigration decreased .

.. Americans in the South (54%) are the most likely to want immigration decreased, while those in the West (44%) are relatively less likely to say the same.

People think Palin has a shot in 2012?

I  know you can’t have enough 2012 polls.  Its good fun and anybody can be right, nobody’s wrong.  BUT, I still cannot fathom why Palin is even included in these polls and not just because of this- via Hot Air

a majority of Americans hold an unfavorable view of her, and there is broad public doubt about her leadership skills and understanding of complex issues

I realize that voicing a negative opinion of Sarah Palin is GOP suicide and a serious breach of the 11th commandment {76% of conservative Republicans have a favorable view of her}.  Dale Carnegie certainly wouldn’t approve.  She is not electable as a national candidate.    Focus on the unaffiliated voters and independents who are deserting The One in droves.  Per Rasmussen;

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Democrats continue to approve of the President’s performance while 80% of Republicans disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 37% offer a positive assessment.

Ergo, 63% of unaffiliated voters have a negative assessment of Obama.    Maybe those voters are looking for a new Presidential candidate in 4 years.  I don’t see how supporters of Sarah Palin expect the same independents who voted for an ultra-liberal candidate  over her and the most independent, squishy Republican in John McCain in 2008 to come back around 4 years later after she quit her job as governor.

Via Hot Air–  Something to think about….

When Romney is the Republican nominee, he beats Obama among unaffiliated voters 48% to 41%. But when Palin is the GOP candidate, unaffiliated voters prefer Obama by a 47% to 41% margin…
